Abstract: THE GSM-5 PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE EXPORTS OF U.S. AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES BY CCC'S EXTENSION OF CREDIT FOR PRIVATE EXPORT SALES OFR PERIODS UP TO THREE YEARS. THE PROGRAM HELPS REDUCE INVENTORIES OF SURPLUS COMMODITIES WHICH IN RETURN REDUCES STORAGE EXPENSES ON COMMODITIES THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE TAKEN OVER UNDER DOMESTIC PRICE SUPPORT PROGRAMS.
