EPA REQUIRES OWNERS/OPERATORS OF
LARGE, NEW, FOSSIL-FUEL FIRED STEAM GENERATING UNITS TO MONITOR SO2
EMISSIONS AND TO SUBMIT EMISSIONS DATA TO THE AGENCY QUARTERLY. IF
EXCESS EMISSIONS OCCURRED THE PREVIOUS QUARTER, PLANT MUST IDENTIFY
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN. EPA USES THE DATA TO DETERMINE THAT UNITS
SUBJECT TO SUBPART D ARE OPERATE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE
STANDARDS.
