This request is
not approved. OMB agrees that inquiries should be deleted from
these requirements. However, additional burden reductions must be
made. The current criterion for determining the exemption threshold
is too low and ineffective. A criterion more closely related to
home loan activity should be chosen. This will allow FDIC to reduce
the burden as well as improve the usefullness of the data. The
final rule, when completed, must be submitted to OMB for paperwork
clearance as provided for in 44 USC 3504(h). The existing clearance
is extended until August, 1984 by which time the rulemaking should
be complete.
