Terms of Clearance: This request is not approved. The current clearance will continue until the current expiration date, 11/30/84. There are several omissions in this clearance request. When a corrected, complete package is submitted, we will reconsider our decision. The most important omission is a discussion on the addition of the "variable questions that can be changed from month to month." Although, under certain circumstances and conditions, OMB may approve such questions, they must be throughly justified for need, purpose, and utility. You must also indicate the type of questions you anticipate will be asked. Number 8 of the justification is in error. This collection is not being collected within the quidelines. Please refer to page 4 of the OMB "Instructions for Standard Form 83," Item B, "Collections of Information Employing Statistical Methods." This section was treated inadequately in the justification. Please correct these and any other errors or omissions prior to resubmission.

Abstract: CREDIT UNION MONTHLEY SURVEY PROVIDES FINANCIAL DATA THAT SERVES AS A BASIS FOR ESTIMATING CONSUMER SAVINGS AND CREDIT, GROWTH IN ASSETS, SAVINGS, INVESTMENTS AND TO MONITOR TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS AT ALL U.S CREDIT UNIONS. THE INFORMATION IS USED FOR SUPERVISORY PROGRAM PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT, AND PUBLICATION OF INDUSTRY STATISTICS.
