Abstract: THE HCFA-3258 IS COMPLETED BY MEDICARE CONTRACTORS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. THE SCHEDULE PROJECTS AN AVERAGE NUMBER OF PRODUCTIVE HOURS, PER EMPLOYEE, DEVOTED BY EACH CONTRACTOR TO MEDICARE OPERATIONS. THEREAFTER, HCFA USES THIS INFORMATION TO CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF STAF YEARS DEVOTED TO NINE INTERMEDIARY OR SEVEN CARRIER MEDICARE-RELATED FUNCTIONS.
