Abstract: FORM 8271 IS USED BY ALL PERSONS WHO HAVE ACQUIRED AN INTEREST IN CERTAIN TAX SHELTERS AND WHO HAVE CLAIMED SHELTER TAX BENEFITS ON THEIR RETURNS TO INCLUDE THE IRS-ASSIGNED TAX SHELTER REGISTRATION NUMBER ON THE RETURNS (BY ATTACHING FORM 8271). WE USE THE INFORMATION TO ASSOCIATE CLAIMED BENEFITS WITH THE TAX SHELTER.
