THIS APPROVAL UPON PERFORMANCE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. BY MAY 1, 1985,
EDUCATION SHALL DELIVER TO OMB A REPORT ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE
SAR FORMAT FOR 1984-85. 2. BY FEBRUARY 18, 1985, EDUCATION SHALL
PROVIDE A DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE SAR FORM SHALL BE USED IN THE
COMING YEAR FOR VALADATION ACTIVITIES. 3. BY FEBRUARY 18, 1985,
EDUCATION SHALL PROVIDE A CALANDAR OF EVENTS IDENTIFYING WHEN OMB
AND EDUCATION WILL START DISCCSSIONS ON THE 1986-87 PELL AND SFA
APPLICATION AND ASSOCIATED FORMS TO REDUCE ERROR RATES AND
IMPLEMENT QUALITY CONTROL REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS. 4. BY FEBRUARY
18, 1985, EDUCATION SHALL REPORT ON HOW THE USE OF THE 1984-85 SAR
AND AND INCREASED TAPE TRANSFER OF APPLICATION DATA AND NEW PAYMENT
PROCEDURES ARE BEING USED TO PROVIDE MORE CURRENT COST INFORMATION
ON THE PELL PROGRAM.

THE STUDENT COMPLETES AN APPLICATION
FROM (ED 255) ON WHICH HE/SHE PROVIDES INCOME AND ASSET INFORMATION
NECESSARY TO DETERMINE AN EXPECTED FAMILY CONTRIBUTION TOWARD
EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES. THE STUDENT SENDS THE FORM TO AN ED
CONTRACTOR WHICH DETERMINES THE AMOUNT OF THE EXPECTED FAMILY
CONTRIBUTION. THE ED CONTRACTOR THEN SENDS THE STUDENT A SAR WHICH
IS A NOTIFICATION OF THE RESULTS OF THAT DETERMINATION. THE
INSTITUTE SENDS IN PART 3 TO RECEIVE THE FUNDS.
