The EEO-1
package is approved through 6/30/85, to allow EEOC to collect data
for the 1985 reporting cycle. EEOC should submit a new EEO-1
package to OMB by 7/01/85 that reflects OMB's request that serious
consideration be given to replacing the annual collection of EEO-1
data with a sampling procedure that achieves a 50 percent burden
reduction for the 1986 reporting cycle. EEOC may consider any
sampling procedures it believes might achieve this target, but
should also consider sampling strategies based on geography,
industry, size o firm, or some combination thereof. In addition,
EEOC should provide by 7/01/85 the trend data OMB requested on
3/22/85, which included the following: 1. Data for the last 5 years
on the percentages of cases brought: a. solely at the Commission's
initiation b. by individuals filing on their own behalf c. by
individuals or groups asking the Commission to initiate an
investigation on their behalf 2. Data for the last 5 years on the
10 industries against which the most cases have been brought or in
which the greatest population was affected.
