Abstract: THE CENSUS BUREAU MUST COLLECT TAX AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL REVENUE DATA FROM ALL LOCAL GENERAL PURPOSE GOVERNMENTS. IT USES THIS INFORMATION PUBLISH BENCHMARK STATISTICS ON GOVERNMENTAL FINANCE AND TO COMPLY WIT COMMITMENTS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY. TREASURY USES THIS INFORMATION IN CALCULATING REVENUE SHARING ENTITLEMENTS.
