IN COOPERATION WITH STATE AND LOCAL
HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, MEDICAL EXAMINERS, AND CORONERS, THE PROPOSED
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM AND REGISTRY WILL COLLECT CASE REPORTS OF
SOUTHEAST ASIAN ADULTS WHO DIED FROM SUDD UNEXPLAINED DEATH
SYNDROME (SUDS). THE DATA COLLECTED WILL BE USED TO MONITOR THE
OCCURRENCE OF SUDS IN THE U.S., IDENTIFY RISK FACTORS AND EVALUATE
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COMMUNITY INTERVENTION STRATEGIES TO REDUCE
RISK.
