by which time FAA should evaluate the feasibility of establishing a
system for electronic filing of GA flight plans. FAA may wish to
develop an interest survey in order to identify GA pilots that have
the capability of filing electronically. FAA should also measure
any budgetary impacts that would result from use of electronic
filing.

FEDERAL AVIATION ACT OF 1958, SECTION
307 (49 USC 1348) AUTHORIZES REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE FLIGHT OF
AIRCRAFT. 14 CFR 91 PRESCRIBES REQUIREMENTS FOR FILING FLIGHT
PLANS. INFORMATION IS COLLECTED TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO AIRCRAFT
IN FLIGHT AND PERSONS AND PROPERTY ON THE GROUND.
