Abstract: THE 1987 NMES WILL SURVEY PERSONS IN THE CIVILIAN NONINSTITUTIONALIZED POPULATION, THE POPULATION IN NURSING HOMES, PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITALS AND FACILITES FOR THE MENTALLY RETARDED, A SAMPLE OF THEIR MEDICAL PROVIDE AND THEIR HEALTH INSURORS. THE SURVEY WILL PROVIDE UP-TO-DATE NATIONA ESTIMATES OF THE USE AND EXPENDITURES FOR HEALTH CARE, SOURCES OF PAYMENT, HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE, AND DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS WHICH WILL BE USED TO EVALUATE CURRENT AND PROPOSED HEALTH POLICY
