Terms of Clearance: IN THE FUTURE IT WILL BE THE POLICY OF NCHS TO PLAN ONLY ONE PRETEST OF NHIS SURVEYS AND TO REQUEST APPROVAL FOR ADDED PRETESTS ONLY UNDER EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THEREFORE, FUTURE NHIS FISCAL AND INFORMATION COLLECTION BUDGETS WILL NO LONGER INCLUDE FUNDING, OR burden hours, for multiple health interview survey pretests. HHS WILL IMPLEMENT THIS REVISED POLICY BEGINNING IN FY 1986.

Abstract: SURVEY. HEALTH. THE NATIONAL HEALTH INTERVIEW SURVEY, AN ONGOING SURVEY OF THE CIVILIAN, NONINSTITUTIONALIZED POPULATION, EVALUATES THE NATION'S HEALTH. THE 1986 NHIS TO BE PRETESTED IN SEPTEMBER 1985, WIL INCLUDE SUPPLEMENTS ON "HEALTH INSURANCE", "LONGEST JOB WORKED", "DENTAL HEALTH", "VITAMIN AND MINERAL SUPPLEMENT INTAKE" (FIRST QUARTE ONLY) AND "FUNCTIONAL LIMITATIONS".
