Terms of Clearance: Approved with the understanding that this survey does not constitute a precedent for OMB approval of future surveys of this type. OMB approval is for the August 22, 1985 version of the questionnaire as amended by question 19A and questioon 27. It is our understanding that interviewing will begin August 24,1985 and extend through September 8, 1985 to improve the response rate. A subsample of 100 nonrespondents is to be followed up in an attempt to reveal potential bias due to nonresponse.

Abstract: THE SURVEY IS NEEDED TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON CONSUMER AWARENESS OF SAVINGS BONDS FEATURES IN SUPPORT OF THE DIVISION'S FY87 BUDGET REQUEST FOR PAID ADVERTISING FUNDS. THE SURVEY RESULTS WILL BE USED TO PREDICT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PAID ADVERTISING IN INCREASING SALES. AFFECTED PUBLIC IS 500 RESPONDENTS.
