Abstract: THE IMPLEMENTATIO OF THESE HOSPITAL BILLING REQUIREMENTS WILL ENABLE THE MEDICAID PROGRA TO DEVELOP MEANINGFUL DATA FOR USE BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN ORDER TO REDUCE MEDICAL CARE COSTS. THIS REQUIRED DATA IS NEEDED TO MAKE TH STATES' MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS MORE COMPATIBLE WITH SYSTEMS USED TO ADMINISTER THE MEDICARE PROGRAM, WHICH WILL FURTHER REDUCE COS AND BURDEN ON THE PROVIDER COMMUNITY.
