Abstract: THE ONE YEAR RETENTION PERIOD FOR SHIPPING PAPERS, STOWAGE PLANS, ETC. IS USED TO FACILITATE CASUALTY INVESTIGATIONS TO DETERMINE IF IT IS POSSIBLE THAT TRANSPORTATION SAFETY IN THE SHIPPING BY WATER TRANSPORTATION OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CAN BE IMPROVED BY AVOIDING SIMILAR INCIDENTS.
