Abstract: THIS STUDY WILL ASCERTAIN THE PRESENT SMOKING BEHAVIOR, KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, BELIEFS, AND PREVALENCE OF THE U.S. ADULT POPULATION, AND WILL EVALUATE POSSIBLE CHANGES THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE SINCE 1975. APPROXIMATELY 12,000 TELEPHONE INTERVIEWS WILL BE CONDUCTED. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE USED FOR POLICY, PROGRAM AND RESEARCH DIRECTION.
