Terms of Clearance: The "Business Confidential Data Request" is approved through March 198 to enable the Department to process Trade Adjustment Assistance cases occuring prior to December 19, 1985. If the TAA program is renewed, D should submit a new package that reflects the new expiration date of a any pertinent changes to the program. Since the projected burden increase for FY 1986 will not occur until after the expiration of the current program, the 800 hour increase has not been included in the burden total for this package.

Abstract: STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE TRADE ACT OF 1974 AS AMENDED REQUIRE COMPLETE AND ACCURATE BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL DATA IN ORDER TO MAKE DETERMINATIONS AS TO WHETHER IMPORT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO WORKER SEPARATION. THE SECRETARY OF LABOR'S DETERMINATIONS DECIDE IF PETITIONING WORKERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR WORKER ADJUSTMENT ASSISTANCE.
