Abstract: SINCE WIDOWHOOD IS BOTH COMMON AND AN INEVITABLE EVENT IN THE LIVES OF MANY OLDER PEOPLE, WE WISH TO IDENTIFY FACTORS THAT WILL BUFFER OR PROTECT OLDER PEOPLE AGAINST THE HYPOTHESIZED DELETERIOUS CONSEQUENCES OF SUCH AS STRESSFUL LIFE EVENT. PARTICIPANTS IN THE YALE HEALTH AND AGING PROJECT WILL BE ELIGIBLE.
