Terms of Clearance: Disapproved and continued. On March 3 the Customs Service affirmed th Form 7529 is used for merchandise arriving by airplane as well as by ship. On that date we requested changes in the form to provide for recordation of the aircraft flight number and to modify other headings as appropriate, e.g. "date of sailing," in the fourth column. In addition, we requested appropriate changes in the instructions to provide for use by air carriers. On April we received a revision to the form and instructions that does not provide for reporting either the gross weight or the point of origin for merchandise arriving by ai When asked why this information was required for boat shipments, but not for airplane shipments, no answer could be given. You are requested to submit as soon as possible a new clearance reques that either provides for comparable information for merchandise arrivi by ship or airplane, or that clearly justifies why it is not appropriate for comparable information to be reported.

Abstract: C.F. 7529 IS A FORM WHICH MAY BE USED BY THE IMPORTER AS EVIDENCE OF T RIGHT TO MAKE ENTRY OF MERCHANDISE NOT RELEASED DIRECTLY TO THE CARRIER BY EXECUTING A CARRIERS CERTIFICATE ON THE FORM. IT SHOWS THE CUSTOMS INSPECTOR THAT THE CARRIER HAS GIVEN THE IMPORTERS THE RIGHT TO MAKE ENTRY, I.E., THE IMPORTER HAS PAID SHIPPING COSTS, ETC.
