Abstract: SECTION 24 OF THE FEDERAL POWER ACT PROVIDES FOR THE AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL OF FEDERALLY OWNED LANDS WITHIN THE PROPOSED BOUNDARIES OF HYDROPOWER PROJECTS WHEN AN APPLICATION FOR THE PRELIMINARY PERMIT OR LICENSE IS FILED WITH THE COMMISSION. FERC-587 WILL COLLECT INFORMATION TO ENABLE THE COMMISSION TO DETERMINE WHICH RESERVED FED.
