Abstract: TO ESTIMATE CURRENT NATIONAL RATES, DISTRIBUTION (GEOGRAPHIC AND DEMOGRAPHIC) AND SEVERITY OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT. THE INFORMATION WILL BE OBTAINED FROM THR DATA SOURCES: LOCAL CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES AGENCIES AND PROFESSIONA IN COMMUNITY AGENCIES AND INSTITUTIONS. THE RESULTS AND FINDINGS WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR THE MANDATED REPORT TO CONGRESS. THE FINDINGS WILL BE USED TO FORMULATE RECOMMENDATIONS TO IMPROVE LAWS AND PROGRAMS
