Abstract: THE HVS PROVIDES QUARTERLY ESTIMATES OF NATIONAL, REGIONAL AND STATE VACANCY RATES BY VARIOUS CHARACTERISTICS. THESE DATA GIVE RESEARCHERS THE ABILITY TO GAUGE THE HOUSING INVENTORY OVER TIME. INFORMATION IS COLLECTED FROM HOMEOWNERS, REALTORS, AND OTHER KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSONS.
