Terms of Clearance: WE HAVE APPROVED THIS COLLECTION OF INFORMATION THROUGH 8/87, BY WHICH TIME THE AGENCY PLANS TO PUBLISH A FINAL RULE REVISING ITS EXISTING STANDARD ON RESPIRATORY PROTECTION, WHICH IS REFERENCED IN THIS REGULATION. IN THE RULEMAKING ON RESPIRATORY PROTECTION, THE AGENCY SHALL COMPLETELY JUSTIFY THE NEED FOR AND PRACTICAL UTILITY OF THE REQUIREMENT TO CONDUCT MONTHLY INSPECTIONS OF EMERGENCY-USE RESPIRATORS, OR SHALL CONVERT THIS RECORDKEEPING REQUIREMENT TO A CERTIFICATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH 5 CFR 1320.7(K)(1).

Abstract: THIS REGULATION REQUIRES EMPLOYERS TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN ACCURATE RECORDS OR EXPOSURE MONITORING AND MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE FOR EMPLOYEES EXPOSED TO ETHYLENE OXIDE (ETO). THESE RECORDS WILL BE USED BY EMPLOYERS, EMPLOYEES, PHYSICIANS AND THE GOVERNMENT TO ASSURE THAT WORK PLACE EXPOSURE TO ETO DOES NOT ADVERSEL AFFECT THE HEALTH OF EMPLOYEES.
