Abstract: THE TRIBOLOGY PROGRAM WAS INITIATED A YEAR AGO AT NSF. IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE PROGRAM DIRECTION, WE ARE CONDUCTING THIS SURVEY TO ASSESS THE CURRENT LEVEL OF ACTIVITIES IN TRIBOLOGY AT UNIVERSITIES, INDUSTRY, AND FEDERAL LABS. THIS INFORMATION IS ESSENTIAL IN FORMULATING FUTURE PLANS FOR GROWTH OF THIS IMPORTANT RESEARCH FIELD.
