Abstract: THE RECREATIONAL BOAT MANUFACTURER IDENTIFICATION CODE (MIC) IS A THREE CHARACTER CODE USED IN THE HULL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (HIN) OF EVERY RECREATIONAL BOAT MANUFACTURED IN OR IMPORTED TO THE UNITED STATES. THE MIC IDENTIFIES THE MANUFACTURER OR IMPORTER OF EVERY BOAT. THE HIN & MIC ARE USED TO IDENTIFY BOATS SUBJECT TO RECALL, BOATS BEING REGISTERED, BOATS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS AND LOST, STOLEN OR ABANDONED BOATS.
