Abstract: THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF A VESSEL REGULATED UNDER TITLE 46 CFR IS REQUIRED TO FILE A REPORT WHEN THERE IS LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH THA VESSEL OR IF THAT VESSEL IS THOUGHT TO BE IN DISTRESS. THE LIKELIHOOD OF TIMELY ASSISTANCE BEING PROVIDED TO THAT VESSEL IS INCREASED.
