The Park Use
Survey is approved with the understanding that: 1) respondents will
be told their cooperation is voluntary before any questions are
asked, 2) NPS will examine the possibility of using results from
the Public Area Recreation Visitor Survey for estimating or
verifying multipliers in any of the parks, 3) the frequency of
reestimation will be once every ten years unless NPS determines
there is a compelling need (e.g. development of a new recreation
facility) to recalibrate more often, and 4) NPS will submit within
3 months a reestimate of the reporting burden taking into account
that the "Site/ Activity" (question 2) will be used in only 10% -
20% of the parks. MAILBACK SURVEYS CAN BE USED FOR ONE YEAR (ENDING
APRIL 30, 1989) BASED ON CONDITIONS SPECIFIED IN NPS' MEMO OF MARCH
29, 1988.
