Terms of Clearance: A LIMITED PERIOD OF APPROVAL IS BEING GIVEN TO THIS FORM WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT NEH WILL DEVELOP A SIMPLIFIED FORM FOR THIS PROGRAM. IN LIGHT OF THE RELATIVELY SMALL SIZE OF INDIVIDUAL GRANTS UNDER THIS PROGRAM, NEH SHOULD DEVELOP A SHORTER APPLICATION FOR THIS PROGRAM. WHERE THE CURRENT APPROACH REQUIRES EXTENSIVE DATA TO BE SUBMITTED USE OF A FILL-IN-THE-BLANKS APPROACH WOULD BE LESS BURDENSOME. NEH SHOULD EXPLORE THIS AND OTHER ALTERNATIVES TO THE CURRENT APPROACH AND PROPOSE A SIMPLIFIED FORM IN THE NEXT REQUEST FOR APPROVAL. THIS FORM MUST BE CHANGED TO COMPLY WITH THE LETTER OF 3-16-87 FROM JAMES MACRAE OF OMB TO LYNNE CHENEY OF NEH.
