illustrations of major uses of the ECI, 2) nonresponse rates by
industry, and size of establishment in order to illustrate the
range o response rates for the samples on which published data are
based, 3) i preparation for a meeting with OMB before June 30,
1987, a description of BLS plans for initiation of ongoing
publication of measures of erro including a discussion of the
resources needed for meeting the current publication target, as
well as trade-offs that would be required to begin the publication
early in 1988, and 4) a copy of the report on th 1981-82 survey of
user comments on the ECIA and relevant papers from the 1987
Washington conference.

EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION COSTS. THE ECI IS USED TO ANALYZE THE
RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHANGES IN PRODUCTIVITY, EMPLOYMENT, OUTPUT
PRICES, AND COMPENSATION COSTS. THE SURVEY COVERS THE PRIVATE
NONFARM ECONOMY AND STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.
