Approved with the following conditions: 1) the last sentence of the first paragraph of the revised cover letter will be changed to read, "These two factors are vital for production and strategic planning to enable us to provide an adequate supply of coins (31 USC 5111)," 2) th proposed postcard will include an address or place to call for another copy of the survey questionnaire, 3) the Mint will conduct a survey of coins received by Federal Reserve Banks for comparison with the result of this survey, and 4) a copy of the final report of the survey result will be provided to OMB.

THE UNITED STATES MINT INTENDS TO CONDUCT A ONE-TIME RANDUM SURVEY OF THE PUBLIC. THE SURVEY EXAMINES COIN DEMAND FORECASTS WHICH FORM THE BASIS FOR SHORT-TERM BUDGET PLANNING AND LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PLANNING. AMONG THE FACTORS INCLUDED IN THE FORECAST MODEL ARE THE RATE OF COINS LOST ANNUALLY AND THE STOCK REMAINING IN CIRCULATION.
