with 5 CFR 1320, this survey is approved to 12/31/89. The survey is
approved with modifications as described in a 5/21/87 letter from
Charles Waite to Don Arbuckle, and with 2 additional modifications:
(1) question 10 (TC 9502) "What type of cab does this vehicle
have?" is modified as per telphone conversation between Carmen
Campbell and Don Arbuckle 6/15/87 and (2) question 16 (TC 9501),
question 21 (TC 9502), "How many cylinders does this vehicle engine
have?" is deleted because the information is available elsewhere.

THE TRUCK INVENTORY AND USE SURVEY
PROVIDES DATA ON THE PHYSICAL AND OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF
THE NATION'S TRUCK POPULATION. THESE DATA ARE USED BY GOVERNMENT
AGENCIES MAJOR MANUFACTURERS OF TRUCKS AND THEIR COMPONENT PARTS,
AND CONSULTIN FIRMS TO ESTABLISH POLICY FOR THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY
AND TO PREDICT MARKET TRENDS. RESPONDENTS OF THIS SURVEY WILL
CONSIST OF REGISTERED TRUCK OWNERS AND LEASEES.
