Abstract: HUD IS CONDUCTING A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF SMOKE DETECTORS ON FIRES IN MANUFACTURED HOUSING. THE DEPARTMENT IS CONCERNED OVER THE LARGE NUMBER OF MANUFACTURED HOME FIRE INCIDENTS WHERE SMOKE DETECTORS WERE REPORTED AS REMOVED OR NOT FUNCTIONING IN HOMES CONSTRUCTED TO FEDERAL STANDARDS.
