Terms of Clearance: This ICR is approved for three years under the following conditions: (1) States are only required to report to EPA annually, not quarterly as the ICR requests, (2) EPA will examine all the recordkeeping requirements, determine whi should be reduced, especially those that extend beyond 3 years, and propose the appropriate recordkeeping changes in the regulations, and (3) EPA will clearly indicate in its next renewal the additional burden hours that result from any new regulatory requirements.

Abstract: PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS MUST MONITOR AND REPORT TO STATES OR EPA ON COMPLIANCE/NON-COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS. STATES MUST REPORT TO EPA ON VIOLATIONS, VARIANCES OR EXEMPTIONS GRANTED, AND CHANGES TO SYSTEM INVENTORIES. THE STATES AND EPA USE THE INFORMATION TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH THROUGH COMPLIANCE WITH THE SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT.
