Terms of Clearance: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320, the proposed May 1988 CPS Employee Benefit Supplement is disapproved for the following reasons: Standards of data quality are not met in that the survey contains many untested questions with wording and content unlikely to yield valid responses. As many as one-third of the questions may yield a "don't know" response. The universe is improperly specified in that it fails to include experienced workers not currently employed, who may constitute a significant portion of the population covered by pensions. In view of the importance of information concerning pension coverage, an appropriately designed study on this topic would be considered and reviewed expeditiously.
