Abstract: THE REGULATIONS ALLOW TAXPAYERS TO MAKE CERTAIN ELECTIONS WHICH AFFECT THE DETERMINATION OF QUALIFIED RESIDENCE INTEREST THE AFFECTED PUBLIC ARE HOMEOWNERS WITH DEBT IN EXCESS OF BASIS WHO ELECT TO TREAT SUCH DEBT AS NOT SECURED BY THEIR RESIDENCE, WHO HAVE DEBT SECURED BY A RESIDENTIAL LOT OR CONTRUCTION MATERIALS, AND WHO HAVE SECOND RESIDENCE.
