collect these data which are duplicative of data collected by Labor
on its form 5500. The Department should make arrangements to
collect pension fund investment data from the Department of Labor
beginning in the summer of 1989.

THIS SURVEY PROVIDES THE ONLY SOURCE
OF INFORMATION ON THE EXTENT OF PENSION FUND INVESTMENT IN
MORTGAGE-RELATED SECURITIES AND CONSEQUENTLY THEIR PROVISION OF
FUNDS TO THE MORTGAGE MARKET. IT WILL MONITOR HOW PENSION FUNDS
RESPOND TO CHANGES IN ERISA REGULATIONS. RESPONDENTS ARE PENSION
FUNDS OR THEIR INVESTMENT MANAGERS.
