Abstract: INFORMATION ON THE BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION OF RECREATIONAL BOAT OPERATORS IS SOUGHT SO THAT THE RIS ASSOCIATED WITH ELEVATED BAC CAN BE DETERMINED. THE RISK WILL BE USED BY STATE LEGISLATURES IN DEFINING THE BAC WHERE BOAT OPERATORS ARE LEGALLY INTOXICATED. THE COAST GUARD WILL USE THE ESTIMATES OF RISK TO INFORM BOATERS OF THEIR RISK AND TO TARGET BOATING SAFETY PROGRAM.
