This collection
is approved for use under OMB control number 1115-0051 through
5/31/89 by which time INS shall have completed a rulemaking to
rescind regulations that require nonimmigrant students to submit
information pertaining to means of support and cost of education
and living to INS in any form as well as regulations that require
students to disclose such information to educational or other
institutions. IN should, instead, rely on the State Department visa
process to ensure that these students are able to support
themselves, and accept a valid visa as proof of means of support.
This instruction is given pursuant to OMB's authority under the
Paperwork Reduction Act, as amended, and implementing regulations
found at 5CFR1320.14. Any resubmission of this collection for
clearance after 5/31/88 must not contain reference to means of
support or cost of livi or education.
