Abstract: THE DATA COLLECTION EFFORT WILL PROVID INFORMATION REGARDING VOTERS, NONVOTERS, AND PERSONS WHO REGISTERED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE NOVEMBER 1988 ELECTION. THESE DATA ARE COLLECTED BIENNIALLY ON THE CPS AND ARE USED BY A NUMBER OF GOVERNMENTAL AND PRIVATE AGENICES TO EVALUATE VOTER/NONVOTER PATTERNS. OTHER THAN THE DECENNIAL CENSUS, THERE IS NO OTHER SOURCE OF DATA ON ASIAN AND PACIFI ISLANDER SUBGROUPS THAT PROVIDES THE LEVEL OF RELIABILITY OF THE CPS.
