Abstract: TITLE III OF THE SUPERFUND AMENDMENTS REAUTHORIZATION ACT (SARA) REQUIRES THAT FACILITIES PROVIDE LOCAL PLANNING COMMITTEES WITH THE INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR THE PREPARATION OF EMERGENCY PLANS. FACILITIES MUST ALSO IMMEDIATELY REPORT TO STATE AND LOCAL COMMISSIONS ABOUT RELEASES OF HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES AND PROVIDE WRITTEN INFORMATION ABOUT THESE RELEASES.
