Abstract: IN THE LAST 30 YEARS NSF HAS AWARDED 1,104 NATO POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHI FOR STUDY AT SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTIONS IN COUNTRIES THAT ARE MEMBERS OF NATO. A BASE-LINE STUDY OF THE PROGRAM WAS CONDUCTED IN 1988, AND THIS SURVEY IS NEEDED FOR PROGRAM MANAGEMENT. NSF, DEPT. OF STATE, AND NATO ARE INTERESTED IN THE IMPACT OF THE PROGRAM ON YOUNG PHD'S AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION IN SCIENCE.
