The demographic
questionnaire is approved for testing in 200 establishments and
approval continues for the occupational wage survey program through
October, 1990. To obtain approval for additional testing, BLS
should submit an analysis of the results of the 200 establishment
test and a justification of the collection of data on race and
ethnicity, month o birth, and sex. The justification should explain
the major issues to be explored, including the adequacy of the
sample to support statement about occupational pay levels tabulated
by race and ethnic origin, age and sex. As part of its
justification, BLS should report on the suitability of data from
other data sets for analysis of pay comparability issues, such as
data collected by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The
request for further testing should be submitted as a request for a
separate clearance number.
