We have approved
continued use of this collection of information through December,
1990 at which time MSHA expects to have completed the rulemaking
revising this form. MSHA expects to publish an NPRM by October,
1989. On or before the date of publication of the NPRM, the agency
will request OMB review of the proposed forms under 5 CFR 1320.13.
We will examine each data element on the proposed forms using the
criteris set forth in 5 CFR 1320.4. The public will have an
opportunity to comment at that time.

EMPLOYMENT DATA IN ORDER TO MEASURE THE LEVELS OF INJURY EXPERIENCE
AND IDENTIFY THOSE AREAS MOST IN NEED OF IMPROVEMENT. THE NUMBER OF
EMPLOYEES, EMPLOYEE HOURS, AND COAL MINE PRODUCTION (ALONG WITH
