OWNERS OF INSPECTED VESSELS MUST APPLY TO THE COAST GUARD FOR DRYDOCK EXTENSIONS AND TO SUBSTITUTE UNDERWATER SURVEYS FOR DRYDOCK EXAMINATIONS. VESSELS WITH LOADLINE CERTIFICATES MUST HAVE A SHELL EXPANSION DRAWING ON BOARD. THE COAST GUARD CAN THEN EVALUATE DEVIATIONS FROM SCHEDULED DRYDOCK EXAMINATIONS AND VESSEL HULL DETERIORATION.
