Pursuant to the
PRA and 5 CFR 1320, OMB continues the existing information
collection approval under this OMB control number, and approves in
part and does not approve in part the new information collection.
OMB cannot approve the reporting requirement under section
72.212(b)(1)(ii). The Commission has not demonstrated that the
requirement to report within 30 days of the initial storage of
spent fuel in a cask is the least burdensome requirement necessary
to achieve Commission objectives. Why could not this information be
reported as part of the annual material balance inventory (10 CFR
72.51(b)). Additionally, the Commission has not demonstrated the
practical utility of requiring the cask fabrication initiation and
completion dates to be included as part of the cask record (section
72.234(d)(2)(iv) and (v)). See similar remarks at 3150-0132.
