THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE IS
THE GOVERNMENT'S PRINCIPAL CRIMIN JUSTICE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
AGENCY. THE INSTITUTE RECEIVES APPROXIMATELY 400 GRANT APPLICATIONS
EACH YEAR, AND SPENDS ABOUT $10 MILLION ANNUALLY ON GRANT RESEARCH.
TO ASSESS THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INSTITUTE'S GRANT
APPLICATION REVIEW PROCESS, THE INSTITUTE PROPOSES TO CONDUCT THIS
ONE TIME SURVEY OF 1989 APPLICANTS.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
