Terms of Clearance: This information collection request is approved with the following conditions. (1) Per the agreement between HUD and OMB, HUD shall obtain additional information on the accuracy and precision of the model of XRF testing instrument used in the survey. HUD shall obtain sufficient data to allow it to determine, within a reasonable range of statistical precision, the accuracy and precision of the XRF testing device used to measure lead based paint concentrations for the survey. HUD shall additionally publish its finding regarding the XRF's accuracy and precision in its reporting of survey results. (2) The revised "questionnaire" (submitted to OMB on 9/19/89) is approved with the changes in questions 9 and 10 agreed to by HUD and OMB.

Abstract: HUD WILL USE THE SURVEY TO ESTIMATE THE INCIDENCE OF LEAD-BASED PAINT IN HOUSING AND THE COSTS AND BENEFITS OF ABATEMENT, AND TO DEVELOP A PLAN FOR ABATEMENT -- ALL AS REQUIRED BY LAW. THE AFFECTED PUBLIC WILL BE THOSE SURVEYED AND POTENTIALLY OWNERS AND OCCUPANTS OF CONTAMINATED HOUSING.
