Abstract: ALLOWING FSLIC-INSURED INSTITUTIONS TO ENGAGE IN LARGE AMOUNTS OF EQUITY RISK INVESTMENT WITHOUT SUPERVISORY REVIEW AND APPROVAL COULD RESULT IN UNACCEPTABLY HIGH LEVELS OF RISK TO THE INSTITUTION AND THE FSLIC FUND. THE APPLICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR THE FHLBB TO PREVENT UNSAFE AND UNSOUND PRACTICES RESULTING IN SUCH LEVELS OF RISK.
