Abstract: IRC SECTION 6048 REQUIRES THAT U.S. PERSONS WHO CREATE OR TRANSFER PROPERTY TO A FOREIGN TRUST MUST FILE INFORMATION RETURNS ON THE CREATION AND TRANSFER. IRS USES THE INFORMATION TO DETERMINE IF ANY O THE U.S. PERSONS WHO CREATE OR TRANSFER PROPERTY SHOULD PAY THE EXCISE TAX AND IF ANY INCOME FROM THE TRUST SHOULD BE REPORTED ON U.S. INCOME TAX RETURNS.
